Our
Story
The KCK Spartans Youth Empowerment Program is a youth sports organization based in Kansas City, Kansas. The program was originally founded in 1995 by Malcolm Sublett, who wanted to provide girls in his community with opportunities to participate in basketball. Through his dedication and tireless efforts, the program positively influenced the lives of many young women both on and off the court.
In 2006, when Malcolm was no longer able to coach, his daughter stepped in to lead the team and continue his legacy. As the sport evolved, the need to increase girls’ engagement in basketball became even more important. The Spartans program aims to transform the landscape of youth sports by fostering teamwork, building positive relationships, and developing athletes who are prepared to compete at the middle and high school levels.
Since then, the program has continued to impact the lives of young girls and boys through a community-based youth sports initiative that focuses on meeting athletes where they are. The organization serves as a bridge between players, their families, and the broader community—promoting health and wellness while empowering young men and women to experience the benefits and opportunities that come through participation in sports.
